About Our Farm

Taylor Farm is a working farm nestled in the Green Mountains of southern Vermont. Originally started in 1840, Jon Wright and his family have owned and operated the farm since 1989. From 1998 to 2018, the farm made award-winning Gouda. Though we have ceased production, we continue to support other local cheesemakers in our farm store.

In our store, you can find products from all over Vermont including one of the best selections of quality Vermont cheeses from a variety of small dairy farms. Locally made products include maple syrup, preserves, applesauce, caramel, meats, baked goods, mustards, T-shirts, artwork, ice cream, honey, cider, sodas, chocolates, homemade soaps, candles and so much more.

The farm is home to lots of animals that are friendly and easily accessible to visitors! This includes a mixed herd of Jersey, Brown Swiss and Ridgeback cows, and a sassy Scottish Highlander named Skippy. We also have goats, chickens, ducks, draft horses, a donkey, dogs, and cats. Stop in our farm store to pick up some apples and grain and you'll be sure to make friends all around the farm.

We also offer wagon rides all year round! Perfect for a family picnic or to just take in the views, call ahead to book a ride in any season. In the winter, when conditions are right, our team of lovely draft horses pull sleighs for our winter sleigh rides. An enjoyable experience for the whole family, our sleigh rides show off the winter beauty of southern Vermont on box-style sleighs. Wool blankets are provided, as well as hot cider to sip at the mid-ride bonfire.

In addition to wagon rides, we host a number of events and workshops throughout the year. Check out our Facebook page for current happenings or call to book a private event.

At Taylor Farm we feel incredibly lucky that we get to do what we love, and we'd love for you to be a part of the Taylor Farm experience! Stop by and become a part of the family.
